I collaborated with Zack Darling on this poster for the 2011 Harmony Festival Mystic Beat Lounge – Techno Tribal Community Dance, a late night portion of the Harmony Festival that Zack and his team have produced for 12 years now. He sent me his promotional design and asked me to take it deep into the Gamma Quadrant – where I performed a total remix – adding color, textures and fully incorporated the Gammalyte aesthetics.

I often enjoy working with other artists on projects, as there is always something new to learn from each other before, during or after the design and printing process. Working with Zack was definitely cool.

Printed over several days on the new Gammapress in West Marin, this 6 color silk screen design includes metallic silver-under and gold-over printed inks and the usual custom mixed pigmented colors. We printed a few variants with a Blue > Purple Blend – check them out below. Again, many thanks to LuLu as #1 print assistant for the entire production.

The edition quantity was split between Zack and myself, so available copies are very limited and only mine are available directly from me here. For archival information, an edition of 29 signed and numbered AP’s were gifted to performers and staff members.

FYI: As a very Eco-Minded Establishment, We are very careful not to let any ink or clean-up material make their way into the ground, stream water or the septic system. All ink is meticulously scraped into reclaim buckets to be re-used and then our silk screens, squeegees, etc are wiped completely clean and those already re-used and/or recycled rags are brought to the proper paint recycling center. As we continue to research and incorporate more eco-friendly and bio-degradable products it will get even better for the fragile environment.

Dec 03

I’m gearing up to run my first silk screen art print this weekend. This print has been six years in the making, from the initial vision, through various digital incarnations to the final film separations I completed this week. Like all things organic that revolve around the golden ratio, the design will be based on sacred geometry and inspired by journeys through the psychedelic and ethereal realms.

Having secured 99% of supplies, we’ll be printing a regular edition of 50 prints, with some experimental variations on colored specialty papers that just arrived in the mail today. I’ll be making a last minute run into San Francisco to eyeball some original Griffin Art and pick up some custom pigments, which we’ll be mixing into proprietary ink blends.

Stay tuned here for process pictures as this project develops.

Release date is tentatively set for Dec 11.
